About Us

“We exist to lead young adults to learn from and follow Jesus in all aspects of life for the sake of the world.”

The GCSC (Georgia Christian Student Center) is a non-denominational campus ministry located in Athens, GA seeking to bring Good News to the University of Georgia. We are a group of Christians from various backgrounds coming together to find out what it means to follow Jesus. We are people with stories and hurt and backgrounds (this is one of the reasons “non-denominational” can be misleading, everyone and every place has a story, a history). That’s what “church” is right? People. So why do we have a house for our logo?

The inspiration comes from this passage in the first letter the Apostle Peter wrote to Christian exiles in the 1st century, “As you come to him, the living Stone—rejected by humans but chosen by God and precious to him— you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ” (1 Peter 2:4-5).

The implication is that a “church” or a “ministry” is called to a kind of life in which they are invited into something bigger than themselves. And when they come together, they stand in such a way that people take notice. This is true, right? What catches your attention more? A single brick, or a house? In the house of God, the sum is greater than the parts. We really do need each other. This was God’s plan from the beginning. This is church. Here at the GCSC, we are a group of Christians attempting to stand together in such a way that the world takes notice.

Come by our meetings at 1360 South Lumpkin St. every Sunday night at 7pm for a free meal and some great discussion!
